Question:

Will implanted breasts sag over time? Do the implants slowly sag at all?

Answer:

Implanted breasts usually do not sag over time. What can happen however in certain patients who have very little breast tissue to begin with or very thin skin, there may be what is called bottoming out of the implant. This is where the implant appears heavier in the lower portion or lower pole of the breast. In these cases, it may be necessary to do a small revision where the lower pole of the breast is resupported. This can also be achieved with a material called Strattice which is a dermal matrix made from pigskin. This material allows us to do revision procedures that were not possible in the past. It allows us to provide more support and more coverage to the inferior part of the breast thus relieving the problem of bottoming out.
