Question:

I know that liposuction is not really supposed to be used for weight loss, but would having fat removed result in some amount of weight loss?

Answer:

The fat that is removed does have some weight to it and one liter of fat weighs about 1 kilogram or 2.2 pounds. In general, the maximum amount of fat that is removed from liposuction during one procedure is about 5 liters maximum that would correspond to roughly 10-11 pounds. So the fat does have some weight to it but the overall effect of liposuction is sculpting of the trunk, waist, abs and back and this has the effect of making the patient appear that she has lost much more than the actual weight that has been removed.
