Question:

Does otoplasty correct pixie ears?

Answer:

A pixie ear is the medical term we use that describes when the bottom of the earlobe is pulled down lower than its normal position after a facelift surgery. Otoplasty is the surgical procedure that changes the shape of the overall ear and its position as it relates to the head. Although these are two terms that are very close, a pixie ear is best corrected with soft tissue work to move the earlobe back into its normal place whereas an otoplasty is usually a more extensive operation changing the shape of the underlying cartilage structure to the ear.
