Facial Fat Removal Consultation
For those who have never had a cosmetic procedure done before, or even for those who have, it is natural to have plenty of questions.
In many ways, the consultation is the most important part of the fat removal procedure.
The initial plastic surgery consultation with Dr. Williams allows patients to have the chance to explore options in depth, discuss goals for cosmetic enhancement, and get all questions answered.
First, Dr. Williams will take patient’s personal and family medical and health history.
This will be followed by a basic physical exam that focuses on the facial area. The physical exam will allow Dr. Williams to learn each patient’s cheek structure in detail to plan the buccal fat removal procedure.
Dr. Williams will also take photographs and may make some marks relating to goals for the facial fat removal procedure.
Patients can review other patients’ before and after photos so they can have a sense of the desired results of a cosmetic facial fat removal procedure.
Before the consultation is over, patients will receive a detailed overview of what a cheek fat removal procedure entails, how to prepare, what recovery is like, and payment options.
Buccal Fat Removal Surgery
On the day of the facial fat removal procedure, patients should arrive a few minutes before their appointment time to check in and prepare.
Once patients are comfortably situated in your private appointment room, Dr. Williams will review the goals of the buccal fat removal procedure and administer anesthesia.
Anesthesia can be local or general depending on preference and medical history.
The procedure itself generally takes less than half an hour to complete. The incisions are made inside the mouth (intra-oral) for the buccal fat removal.
This ensures recovery with no visible scars.
The final step of the procedure is to secure the incision areas with fine sutures to aid in healing.
Buccal Fat Removal Recovery
After the cheek fat removal procedure, patients can return home the same day.
Depending on the type of anesthesia administered, patients may need a friend or family member to drive them home from the procedure.
Typically, patients report very little swelling or pain following a cheek fat removal procedure, but all patients are given instructions for taking pain management medications as needed.
Patients may experience just a bit of numbness, soreness, bruising and/or swelling in the first day or two after the procedure as the incisions heal.
This is entirely normal and can often be alleviated by using cool compresses or wrapped cold packs.
Most patients feel fully healed within just a few days and can see the full results at that time.
