Question:

I am finished with breast feeding and plan not to have any more children. My right breast is noticeably bigger than the left and they both droop. I want a breast lift and augmentation. What procedure do you use for the implant, under the muscle and what type of implant do you prefer?

Answer:

When examining a patient who has very asymmetrical breasts, meaning one is larger than the other and breasts that droop, many options area available. First, a breast lift alone can sometimes be all that is needed if the patient has sufficient breast tissue that can be lifted and sculpted into a pleasing shape. However, usually on the smaller side, it is necessary to place an implant. So sometimes either one implant is sufficient or two implants can be used, just different size implants, in order to achieve symmetry. The implants would be placed under the muscle since this gives a much more natural look and more natural feel and about 80% of patients in our practice to request and prefer silicone implants because they do feel much more natural.
